Parvathy, who has been learning tabla since she was seven, played the tabla in different layas for 46 minutes and 36 seconds on January 19. She has now earned a spot in the India Book of Records for playing the tabla for the longest duration.

About Parvathy Unnikrishnan

Parvathy Unnikrishnan (born Parvathy Unnikrishnan; March 25, 2011) is an Indian Tabla Player. She is mainly known for her Tabla skills at this age. Born to Anu K Nirmal & Unnikrishnan P. At age 4 she started playing drums and was interested in it. Her interest later developed and she started learning classical Tabla at age 7. She was inspired by her father’s passion for Tabla. Her father’s grand father is Late. Sri. Narayana Panicker, a Nagaswara Vidhwan from east Cochin was a full-time musician in Temple playing wind instrument.

She is studying in Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Eroor, 6th Std. She is from Ernakulam District. Her dream is to help people through her music. She has got the privilege to attend a class by Pandita Anuradha Pal, Pandit Nayan Ghosh online.

2018She passed the National Mathematics Olympiad Contest held by All India Schools Mathematics Teachers Association.
2019She participated in the 1st level SOF International Mathematics Olympiad .
2020She got 2nd in percussion instruments in Vykhari 2020 by Bhavans Vidya Mandir held in connection with Children's day celebrations.
2021She got 1st in Tabla in Vykhari 2021 by Bhavans Vidya Mandir held in connection with Children's day celebrations.
2021Participated in Rashtragaan, an initiative by the Ministry of Culture to mark Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. To set a record of the maximum number of Indians singing the National Anthem Together.
2022She secured a place in India Book of Records. RECORD TITLE & DESCRIPTION - Longest duration to play the Tabla by a child: The record for playing the Tabla for the longest duration was set by Parvathy Unnikrishnan (born on March 25, 2011) of Ernakulam, Kerala. She played the Tabla for Teen Taal in different 'Layas' with multiple Kayadas, Relas, Tukdas, Paran, Chakradhar and Teehai for 46 minutes and 36 seconds at the age of 10 years 9 months 25 days, as confirmed on January 19, 2022.
2022She received award for Excellence in Music category. Award presented by honourable Kochi Mayor Adv. M Anilkumar on 6.3.2022 at a ceremony by Division 48 of Cochin Corporation.
